Talking Super Bowl Ads with Energy BBDO Sr Producer Vanessa Luhr
February 3, 2020 by Screenmag
In the advertising world, Super Bowl Sunday is about anything but football. It's about the commercials! Energy BBDO Senior Producer Vanessa Luhr chatted with Screen about highlights and lowlights from the epic event...
SCREEN: What was your favorite spot of the night?
VANESSA: Of the night - Amazon Alexa - nice concept, executed well, charming use of celebrities, performances are good across the cast. And though I had seen it before the big night, “Smaht Pahk” is a great script, great use of celebrity talent, very rewatchable.
SCREEN: What was your least favorite spot of the night or a spot you felt could have been more successful?
VANESSA: Martin Scorsese and Jonah Hill.. missed opportunity... snooze fest
SCREEN: What would you like to see more or less of in terms of advertising in next year's Super Bowl?
VANESSA: More original scripts like “Smaht Pahk” which use celebrity talent for their talent and not only their cachet. Less of – I like Chrissy & John but they’re just everywhere…
SCREEN: Any final words as we wrap up this Super Bowl extravaganza?
VANESSA: Shout out to my Energy BBDO peeps for Avocados From Mexico! Also very rewatchable!
