LatiNation Media Recieves Two 2025 GLAAD Media Award Nominations

LatiNation Media, the English-language media studio that creates content for bilingual Latinos, has been nominated for two GLAAD Media Awards for outstanding journalism. The network’s series, Latino Alternative Storytellers ‘Pride 2025’ episode was nominated in the category of Outstanding TV Journalism Long Form, and “Tienes HIV, Mijo? A Mother’s Journey” from the series Living y Ready was nominated in the Spanish Language category of Outstanding Online Journalism, Video or Multimedia // Periodismo digital sobresaliente:

“We’re honored to be recognized by GLAAD for two pieces that speak to the incredible power of queer Latine storytelling, empathy and familia,” said Andrés Palencia, CEO and Co-Founder of LatiNation Media. “From a mother learning to support her son through HIV, to queer creatives reclaiming joy on their own terms, projects like Living y Ready and Storytellers are great examples of the heart and soul of LatiNation.”

Latino Alternative Storytellers is an intimate long-form series on Latino and Latina cultural leaders. It explores identity at the intersection of faith, culture, family, art, and resilience, offering deeply personal stories that move the LGBTQ community beyond labels and stereotypes.

In this “Pride 2025” special, David Archuleta reflects on life in the spotlight, coming out in a conservative religious environment, and rediscovering spirituality on his own terms. Jesus Zambrano, a beloved food blogger and father, shows how cooking has become acts of love, memory, and self-expression. Carlos Basquiat, an Afro-Latino dancer from the Bronx, shares how movement became his refuge against childhood bullies  — carrying him to Beyoncé’s stage and LA’s Ballroom scene. Josielyn Aguilera, a transgender actress, reflects on her journey from small-town California to national screens and the power of representation. The series was produced by Andrew Tamarkin, Susana Vaamonde, Aura Quiroz, and Executive Producers are Andrés Palencia and  Bruno Seros Ulloa.

This moving Spanish-language episode of Living y Ready, ¿Tienes HIV, Mijo? tells the story of Iván Ramirez , a gay man living with HIV, and his mother, Martha, a devout woman from Aguascalientes, MX. When Iván shared his status, their world shifted. Sadness, faith, fear, and love collided — forcing both to confront deeply held beliefs and cultural expectations. At a time when misinformation and silence still surround HIV, this episode breaks through with honesty, compassion, and dignity — replacing fear with empathy and shame with humanity. Created by Andrés Palencia, Directed by Andrew Tamarkin, Produced by Tamarkin, Alexandra Lemus, Palencia, and Executive Produced by Natalia Trejos, Palencia, and Bruno Seros Ulloa

“It’s so rare to see mothers and sons speak so candidly about HIV,” said Andrew Tamarkin, Director, Living Y Ready. “When I first spoke with Martha on the phone, I was immediately touched. Though she’s a traditional woman, she loves her son deeply—despite his being gay, despite his HIV status. I wanted to put those multiple truths on camera, and I’m so grateful that my team gave me their trust to do it.”
