The spirit of the season is arriving early as Chicago-based Lakefront Pictures announces the completion of production on A Snowbound Christmas, a new holiday drama starring Harry Lennix (The Blacklist, Man of Steel).
Filmed in and around Chicago, the feature also stars Maddie McCormick (The Secret Life of Amy Bensen), William Mark McCullough (The Walking Dead, Sweet Magnolias), rising young performer Alegra Carr, who previously portrayed Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol at the acclaimed Alley Theatre, and Jennifer A Goodman (Better Call Saul, Chicago PD) who was also the writer, and producer on the film.
A Snowbound Christmas follows a driven big-city attorney who becomes stranded in a small town during the holidays. There, she forms an unexpected connection with a single father and his autistic daughter, leading her to rediscover the meaning of family, community, and love.
“As a Chicago filmmaker, it was important to create a holiday story grounded in authenticity, heart, and human connection,” said Goodman. “A Snowbound Christmas is ultimately about finding connection in unexpected places and embracing the people who help us rediscover what matters most.”
The film marks another milestone for Goodman, whose work continues to gain traction in the independent film space. As a neurodivergent filmmaker, she brings a unique perspective to character-driven storytelling, with a focus on emotional honesty and meaningful representation.
Directed by Louise Alston (Lick, passionflix) Production recently wrapped with cinematography by Director of Photography Ryan Atkins, whose visual approach helps bring the film’s winter setting and emotional themes to life. Ryan also served as a Producer on the film.
The Chicago-shot production brings together established talent and emerging voices in a story that celebrates family, belonging, and second chances. Featuring performances from Maddie McCormick, William Mark McCullough, Harry Lennix, Jennifer A. Goodman, and Alegra Carr, the film reflects Lakefront Pictures’ continued commitment to character-driven storytelling with broad audience appeal.
