World Premiere Announced for Devon Gulati’s Inspiring Documentary ‘Looking Forward’

What better time than now for a story of inspiration and perseverance? The World Premiere is here for Chicago filmmaker Devon Gulati’s documentary short film Looking Forward. Gulati and his collaborators will head to the southeast next week, as the 13th Annual Key West Film Festival is set to unveil Looking Forward, a compelling piece chronicling Owen Cravens‘ remarkable path to the Paralympics.

Initiated by Gulati during his studies at Columbia College Chicago, Looking Forward began as a class project and evolved into a profound exploration of Owen’s resilience. From early challenges with Stargardt’s disease to becoming a top-ranked para triathlete, Owen’s decade-long journey unfolds with triumph.

Gulati reflects on the achievement and his excitement, sharing with SCREEN that “to come out with this short documentary that has been in the works for over 10 years is unreal. Watching Owen grow over the decade and seeing his dedication to the sport has served as an inspiration for myself and those around him.”

Funded in part by a grant from the State of Illinois and crafted by the editors at Secret Twins Post, Looking Forward provides an intimate look into Owen’s world. It captures his evolution from navigating competitive sports with diminishing vision to becoming a Paralympian.

Through Gulati’s lens, Looking Forward captures Owen’s physical prowess and emotional depth. It showcases his unwavering support from his parents and the impact of his dedication on and off the racecourse.
