The Sing Sing Chronicles kicks off National Justice Tour in Chicago during the Innocence Network Conference

On April 12, 2026, the Actor Empowerment Summit and CineCity Studios will host a brunch and screening of the Emmy Award–winning The Sing Sing Chronicles, marking the Chicago kickoff of The End of an Error: A National Justice Tour, a multi-city series of screenings and conversations. The event is timed to coincide with the Innocence Network Conference, which brings more than 1,200 exonerees, civil rights attorneys, and advocates to Chicago. The event is presented by the Actor Empowerment Summit (@actorsummit) in partnership with CineCity Studios, Monumental Media, and Voices From Within

The documentary follows Jon-Adrian “JJ” Velazquez, who was exonerated after nearly 24 years of wrongful incarceration. Directed by Dawn Porter and based on decades of reporting by NBC News’ Dan Slepian, the series sparks a broader conversation by bringing together exonerees, law firms, civil rights attorneys, and cultural leaders in a space for dialogue, visibility, and impact. After decades of lost time, this event marks an opportunity to reclaim the narrative for those who were once voiceless.
