Behind The Scenes: ‘The Moth’ GrandSLAM
LeeAnn Webster is one of ten storytellers scheduled to compete in The Moth’s Chicago GrandSLAM competition at the Athenaeum Center on Saturday October 7. A motivational speaker and enthusiastic adventurer, she will present a tale about falling in love while organizing a speed-dating event (the first one outside of the Jewish community!) that began with a live interview on LA’s KROQ radio station years ago.
The Moth is a world-renowned showcase that frequently airs on Chicago’s WBEZ. With a commitment to “finding intriguing people to tell inspired stories,” the program lists author Dan Savage, comedian Mike Birbiglia and theoretical cosmologist Janna Levin among its alumni.
Webster’s recent performances include the heartfelt, somber and hilarious one-woman show about growing up in Southern Ohio titled, Fancy Meeting Me Here, that earned rave reviews during a run at Wicker Park’s Den Theatre in June.
