That’s a Wrap on ‘Good Guy with a Gun’; BTS and Wrap Photos (Screen Magazine Exclusive)

“The experience was hilarious and grueling, full of good vibes and creativity amidst the emotionally and physically taxing material,” said director John Mossman in summing up the shoot for his latest feature Good Guy with a Gun, which wrapped in Lockport, IL this past weekend. Veteran cast includes Joe Swanberg and David Pasquesi while the seasoned production team is highlighted by the wife-husband producer team of DeAnna and Kevin Cooper. SCREEN has exclusive on-set and wrap photos for you.

Good Guy With A Gun is the story of a young man trying to find his place in the world. The search begins when his father is killed by violence in Chicago and he moves to the country with his mother. He makes bad choices, endures life-threatening consequences and, of course, gets into guns. According to Mossman, who also wrote the script, it is “one Midwestern boy’s journey into the heart of darkness.” Click here for Mossman’s full interview with SCREEN’s Daniel Patton at the start of production.

“Our crew and cast made this one of the best ensemble experiences I can remember,” Mossman added. “The cast’s chemistry was a thing to behold and made coming to set every day a great adventure.”

Most of the filming took place at HellsGate Haunted House, a 60-acre parcel of quarries, ponds, woods, backroads, paintball fields and, yes, a haunted house in Lockport, IL. The location is owned and managed by actor/filmmaker John LaFlamboy (Days of the Living Dead), who also plays the role of a police officer in Good Guy. “Having the production move into HellsGate Haunted House to shoot the first three weeks made us feel like we all went away to summer camp… a strange summer camp filled with car chases, explosions, gun fire, fight scenes, late night bonfires,” Executive Producer LaFlamboy told SCREEN.

Producer Kevin Cooper closed the interview in saying, “This has been one of the best filmmaking experiences of my career. Such an inspired group of cast and crew, who all pulled together to make what we think is a very special film. A bunch of Good Guys and Gals who I can’t wait to work with again on our next film.”

Good Guy with a Gun now heads into post-production with an anticipated early 2022 world premiere. Check back here at SCREEN for updates as this film forges ahead into the new year.
