Tessa Films Producer Jackie Schroeder Plays Five Questions with SCREEN
SCREEN: One meal, one restaurant, and we’re buying. What will it be?
JACKIE: Big fan of Le Bouchon. They have the best mussels in the city. If you’re picking up the tab I’m going all in on those plus a nice bottle of red, and definitely a crème brûlée with an espresso to finish.
And here is a photo of Jackie and her friend Phillip at Jackie’s fave bistro…

SCREEN: Worst job ever?
JACKIE: Can I say first job ever? When I was fifteen, I worked at a Chicagoland pumpkin farm that also had exotic animals (yeah… slightly problematic in hindsight). My job was the cashier at the giraffe feed stand. I sold carrots. My station was way up high, right at face level with them, so I spent my days hanging out with giraffes and sneaking them my supplies when business was slow.
SCREEN: What’s that TV show you’re a little embarrassed to admit you love to watch? Why do you love it?
JACKIE: At the risk of sounding sanctimonious I don’t believe in being embarrassed about watching things that you actually enjoy. BUT, I get what you’re asking, so yes— I do watch every single show on Bravo. Like, everything. If you ever see me out and about, that’s the easiest way to get me talking for hours. Reality TV is such a strange, over-produced, peek into insane people’s lives. Also, I’m a huge fan of Survivor. I love the strategy aspect. And yes, I know it’s 2025, but there’s a reason they’re on season 50, it’s good!
Jackie, we are gonna take you back to Survivor Season ONE! Here is the opening scene of the first episode ever…
SCREEN: If you could be a member of any musical group in history, what would it be?
JACKIE: I know you said in history, but I’m going with Haim. I’m one of three sisters, and I’m always mad that my sisters and I never started a band.
SCREEN: Describe your perfect weekend!
JACKIE: A Friday night bike ride to the opening night of a movie at the Music Box—the more crowded the better, accompanied by the organist— the best. Saturday would be a long bike ride with anyone I can drag to either Montrose or the South Shore Cultural Center, with a lake jump or two along the way. Sunday is for hours of card games with neighbors or friends or family. Weekends are basically me trying to hang out with as many of my favorite people as I can in three days.
