Super Bowl Picks and Pans from Marina Killion of Optimus

Which Super Bowl spots did you love? Which did you not love? Let’s hear what the pros had to say! We were thrilled to have Optimus Senior Audio Engineer Marina Killion stop by Screen after the game to present her picks…

SCREEN: What was your favorite spot of the night?

MARINA: State Farm, BMW, and Mountain Dew made me chuckle with the way they leaned into those characters. I liked the way Squarespace commented on the fact that everyone is glued to their phones. But I think my favorite of the night was Doritos Dina & Mita. It was punchy, fun, and clever with really delightful sound design…

SCREEN: What was your least favorite spot of the night or a spot you felt could have been more successful?

MARINA: A few spots felt pretty predictable and some fell flat in my opinion. I think each year there are a few ads that showcase big celebrities and production value without really accomplishing much. Paramount Plus and Drumstick were my least favorites of the night…

SCREEN: What would you like to see more or less of in terms of advertising in next year’s Super Bowl?

MARINA: I really appreciated the Google Pixel 8 ad about the new photo feature. I’d love to see other companies creating and promoting products with adaptive technologies.

SCREEN: Any final words here, Marina?

MARINA: I usually only watch for the ads, but the tie in the end of regulation time was pretty exciting! This year actually kept me watching long after the snacks ran out.
