Super Bowl Hits and Misses from Executive Producer Lisa Masseur of Tessa Films
In the advertising world, Super Bowl Sunday is about anything but football. It’s about the commercials! We were thrilled to have Tessa Films Executive Producer and Founder Lisa Masseur stop by Screen after the game to present her picks…
SCREEN: What was your favorite spot of the Super Bowl?
LISA: Adrien Brody for Turbo Tax. Appropriate and fun use of a celebrity in a memorable spot.
Kudos to Lay’s for a nice heartfelt story! Also a stand out.
Kudos to Dove, The Game is Ours. Also fantastic. Always great to lift up the girls while we’re all gathered to watch men’s biggest sports event…
SCREEN: What was your least favorite spot of the night or a spot you felt could have been more successful?
LISA: There were too many honestly, but the AI spots stood out as particularly bad. Did any think they were really going to stand out? Oof.
SCREEN: What would you like to see more or less of in terms of advertising in next year’s Super Bowl?
LISA: I say this every year, please invest in better storytelling… less celebrities.
SCREEN: Lisa, any final comments on this year’s Super Bowl lineup?
LISA: Maybe, just maybe, brands should consider holding their spots UNTIL the darned Super Bowl. I miss watching spots for the first time during the game. Now that most are released a week prior, they are less impactful I think. But hey, I’m older!
