Sundance World Premiere for Filmed-In-Chicago Pilot ‘Me/We,’ Rob McElhenney Among EPs

Sundance’s Episodic Pilot Showcase will have the attention of network executives worldwide, and a filmed-in-Chicago hopeful will be among the handful of pilots on the big screen in Park City. The FX pilot Me/We will make its World Premiere in January at Sundance, led by Always Sunny in Philadelphia writers Rob McElhenney and Keyonna Taylor, and a superb ensemble in front of and behind the camera.

Filming for Me/We took place earlier this year in April, and centered primarily on Chicago’s South Side, including locations in the city’s Kenwood community. Click here for SCREEN’s coverage of the production earlier this year.

In this Chicago-made pilot, Amaria “Yaya” Jones, an argumentative teenager with a passion for dance, must plead her case to her overprotective brother in hopes of winning his blessing to walk to school with her first crush. Yaya’s story is a celebration of life. The cast is led by Camryn Jones, Victor Musoni, Anji White, Travis Wolfe Jr., Nadirah Bost, and Mike Sampson.

Chicago’s Dana Scott Leading Production Team

Chicago’s Dana Scott leads FX pilot

Among the core production ensemble for Me/We is Chicago’s Dana Scott, as Co-Executive Producer, Line Producer and Unit Production Manager. Scott most recently served as Producer and Line Producer on 14 episodes of the critically acclaimed Netflix series Ozark, which received an Emmy nomination last year for Outstanding Drama Series. The series, which starred Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, finished its run after four smash seasons.

Prior to Ozark, which filmed predominantly in Georgia, Scott had been leading production teams on Chicago and Illinois film and television productions for the better part of the last decade. Recent highlights include serving as Unit Production Manager on the HBO series Lovecraft Country starring Jonathan Majors and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and the popular Showtime series The Chi, which is currently in its sixth season.

Always Sunny Writers Penning the Pilot Me/We

In addition to Dana Scott, the network brought the best from yet another hit series to pen the script. Two of the writers behind the popular FX series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – Keyonna Taylor and Rob McElhenney – have penned the pilot.

Writer Rob McElhenney is best known for his role as Ronald “Mac” McDonald on the FX comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, a show he co-created with Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton and on which he continues to serve as an executive producer and writer.
