Sharaun B Spends An Evening With Spike Lee
Spike Lee is one of the coolest people on earth. Besides winning the 2018 Oscar for BlacKkKlansman and a ton of other awards for a ton of other film, he always gets the best seats for New York Knicks’ games. There, on the side of the court, he becomes additionally famous for badgering the players who dare to oppose his beloved hometown team.
On October 24, The Chicago International Film Festival presented Lee with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Recognizing an “auspicious, bold, and visionary collection of films that have helped define and expand on what American cinema is,” the fest gave him the honor during an event called, An Evening With Spike Lee, at AMC Newcity.
Guests included Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, film director Euzhan Palcy and University of Chicago Professor Dr. Jacqueline Stewart, who moderated a discussion with Lee.
Screen correspondent Sharaun Brown interviewed the filmmaker as well as the mayor on the red carpet at the start of the evening.
