EVERYTHING BUT A DESERT
Besides celebrating regional talent, Shorts-a-Palooza is a testament to the beauty of Northwestern Illinois. According to Whiteside County Economic Development Director Gary Camarano, who founded Shorts-a-Palooza in 2017, the scenery includes picturesque farms, rolling hills and covered bridges. Or, as he likes to put it, “everything but a desert.”

Northwest Illinois also boasts an abundance of urban locations including the Quad Cities, where Illinois towns Rock Island and Moline are right next to Iowa’s Bettendorf and Davenport on the Mississippi River. Together, the towns form a region that nearly half a million residents call home.

Notable contributing productions in the area include Chucky Chicken, a modern animated series with vintage vibes that has earned nearly 100,000 YouTube views. There have also been several participating Chicago-based filmmakers including Timothy Troy’s Crazy Little Monster productions and Christina Wollerman’s Wollerman Productions.
