Schafer Condon Carter, Cutters Studios Team Up to Bring Fresh Humor to New Campaign for Old National Bank
In an industry known for its buttoned-up messaging, Schafer Condon Carter (SCC) is flipping the script on banking ads with a new humor-driven campaign for Old National Bank (ONB). The Chicago-based independent creative agency continues to bring a refreshing and unexpectedly witty take on financial advertising, launching a series of sharply crafted, real-life inspired spots that highlight the bank’s deep commitment to client relationships — with a lighthearted twist.
Let’s have a laugh and enjoy this inventive new campaign…
Launching this week across TV, CTV, OLV, digital and radio, the campaign builds on ONB’s “Get Old” platform, reinforcing the bank’s role as a trusted financial partner for both individuals and small businesses. The spots use clever, situational humor to illustrate how ONB bankers understand their clients’ realities.
“At SCC, we believe great creative comes from brands that are willing to lean into real, human moments,” said Craig Miller, Chief Creative Officer at SCC. “With ONB, we saw an opportunity to create a banking campaign that actually feels like real life—unscripted, humorous and culturally relevant.”
Director Jeff Tomsic, known for his work on major comedy films and series, has been instrumental in shaping ONB’s consistent brand voice across multiple campaigns. His ability to capture conversational realism and natural comedic beats has become a defining element of ONB’s advertising.
“Working with SCC and ONB has been one of those rare creative partnerships where trust allows for risk-taking,” said Tomsic, Director at Community Films. “This campaign isn’t just another set of bank ads—it’s a continuation of a tone and style we’ve built together over years, making ONB feel like a brand that actually gets its customers.”
SCC set out to disrupt the traditional jargon-heavy bank ad playbook, leaning instead into humor and human experiences that feel genuinely relatable. By weaving natural dialogue, comedic timing and authenticity, the campaign gives ONB a distinct and approachable voice that stands out in a category often dominated by corporate messaging.
“This campaign reflects what sets Old National Bank apart — our unwavering focus on building connections with our clients and supporting their financial journeys,” said Jim Stadler, Chief Marketing Officer at Old National Bank. “We’re proud to work with SCC to bring this message to life in a way that’s engaging and impactful.”
Each of the four spots captures the essence of ONB’s client-first mentality through real-world scenarios:
- Coach (Wealth Management): In sports, you don’t succeed without your whole team working together. And that’s how we succeed for you at Old National Wealth Management.
- Boom (Community Bank): When word of a bonus this good gets out, it can spread pretty quickly. And before you know it, everyone’s getting it.
- Menu (Community Bank): One sign of a great relationship is how even when it seems a couple isn’t really listening to each other, they actually are.
- Elevator (Small Business): The world of business and salesmanship often uses the indispensable concept of “the elevator pitch.” The most impressive ones actually take place in an elevator.
The campaign will roll out in key markets – Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Nashville, positioning ONB as not just a bank, but a brand with personality and cultural relevance.

The creative partnership between SCC and ONB extends beyond traditional advertising. SCC also developed the concept for ONB’s permanent billboard along Chicago’s Kennedy Expressway, a fixture that has gained attention for its sharp, topical messages. As traffic crawled during the holiday season, it read: “How does Santa deliver presents on time? He avoids the Kennedy!” before flipping to “Come on, express lanes—open up!”
