Reducing Gun Violence at the Heart of Mode Project’s Collab with Chicago CRED
Working together to build a better Chicago for everyone. That is the mission at the heart of the latest collaboration between Mode Project and Chicago CRED. Chicago CRED is dedicated to reducing gun violence in Chicago and transforming the lives of at-risk individuals on the city’s South and West sides. Mode Project leveraged their expertise in authentic documentary-style storytelling to support CRED’s mission by creating a compelling fundraising video for CRED and Emerson Collective. By combining design, animation, and live-action storytelling, Mode Project highlighted CRED’s impact and expanded the possibilities for their outreach efforts.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate this powerful piece…
This vital and impactful project called from a unique creative approach by Mode Project. “The audience for this video includes potential funders and supporters, so it needed to showcase both the operational aspects of CRED and its impact from an authentic, human perspective,” Mode Project Owner and Director of Business Dessa Samardzija Carter shared with SCREEN. “We filmed fifteen hours of unscripted interviews with CRED leadership and program participants, the young individuals who are turning their lives around. The authenticity of their presence in the film comes through and makes the viewer feel invested in CRED’s mission.”
Mode Project adopted a nimble approach to content production, embedding themselves with CRED’s street outreach teams and capturing unscripted events as they unfolded to maintain authenticity. “We leveraged cutting-edge camera technology, including fast lenses and robust image stabilization, allowing us to blend into the background and capture moments that might have been missed with a more traditional approach,” Carter shared with SCREEN. “Additionally, we were honored to work with Grammy-winning producer Peter Cottontale on the film’s music.”
CRED founder Arne Duncan said of the film: “Mode Project captured our story authentically and powerfully, telling it better than we could. This real, impactful video is now crucial to our fundraising initiatives.”
