Publicis US Chief Creative Officer Renato Fernandez Steps Down
Renato Fernandez has stepped down as the chief creative officer of Publicis Creative U.S., a role he accepted less than a year ago. This news was first reported by Ad Age.
Fernandez was a veteran of TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles, having spent 13 years there before heading to Publicis last year. He started in the U.S. Chief Creative Officer role last August and reported to Susie Nam, CEO of Publicis Creative U.S. He also was later named Chicago CCO of Publicis agency Leo, formed via the January merger of Leo Burnett and Publicis Worldwide.
Fernandez said previously that he had no intention of executing top-down mandates in his role, but would instead work with individual agency CCOs to expand their respective shops’ potential while keeping “their identities clear,” according to Ad Age.
Fernandez has been recognized over the years for his campaigns for major global brands including Gatorade, the Grammys, Levi’s, Volkswagen, Airbnb, Visa, Adidas and Pepsi.
The move comes as Publicis Groupe continues to thrive on multiple fronts. On the creative side, recent account wins include Dos Equis, owned by Heineken USA, which hired Publicis agency LePub NYC as its creative agency of record.
A search for Fernandez’s replacement is underway, according to Ad Age.
