‘Power Book IV: Force’ Will Not Be Renewed for Season Four

Power Book IV: Force is on the streets of Chicago filming Season Three, but it appears this may be the final run for Tommy Egan and his crew. Sources tell SCREEN the popular Power spinoff will not be renewed by Starz for Season Four.

This news is surprising, given that the show’s Season One debut back in 2022 was Starz’s most-watched U.S. premiere ever and given the popularity of central character Tommy Egan, played by Chicago actor Joseph Sikora. Nevertheless, sources tell SCREEN that the show’s cast and crew have been informed Power Book IV: Force will very likely end with Season Three.

[Update June 13th at 7:00 pm CST: Series star Joseph Sikora and showrunner Gary Lennon have announced that Power Book IV: Force will indeed end with Season Three. In a video posted across Starz, ‘Power’ and Sikora’s Instagram pages, Sikora said, “When Gary Lennon and the other writers and I were mapping out our third season, we saw that we were telling a complete story, and that this was the perfect opportunity to stay true to our artistic vision and make this the final chapter in Tommy’s journey in Chicago.”

“But don’t worry, Tommy’s journey is far from over with,” Sikora declared in the video. “We’re just getting warmed up, and I can’t wait to show you what we have planned next. I want to give a big shout out to all the players: the cast, the crew from ‘Power Book IV: Force,’ and tell you to tune in. Because ghosts never die, and power never ends.”]

As for Season Three currently filming in Chicago, production has been underway since February and is expected to wrap around mid-July. The premiere date for Season Three has not yet been announced by Starz.

Why did Starz decide to close the book on Power Book IV: Force with Season Three? That question has yet to be answered, and again, no official announcement has been made by the network [See June 13 update above]. In trying to connect the dots, it is worth noting that fellow Power spinoff Power Book II: Ghost is also ending this year. Regardless of the reason, Force will be dearly missed, both by the Chicago production community and by the show’s loyal fan base.

On the positive side, there is still a full Season Three of scintillating episodes that will be airing soon enough. As the season premiere date is announced and teasers and trailers are released, we will have updates for you here at SCREEN.
