‘Power Book IV: Force’ Season 2 Premiere May Push to September; S3 Decision to Follow
Fans of the popular Starz Chicago-made drama Power Book IV: Force may have to wait a bit longer for that Season Two Premiere. As will the show’s cast and crew. Heading into 2023, the expectation was for Season Two to premiere in February or March, hopefully followed by a Season Three order, which would then likely film in the May to October timeframe. However, multiple sources tell SCREEN that the Season Two release of Power Book IV: Force may be pushed to September.
And as for the network’s decision on a Season Three order, Starz top brass would likely wait and see how S2 fares with viewers before rendering a verdict either way.
As for reasons why the S2 release and S3 decision may move to later this year, there is plenty of rumbling and speculation to that end. And frankly, the release date push to September is speculation in itself, as we are simply reporting on what we are hearing from contacts near the show, and no official announcement has been issued by Starz just yet. So let’s hold off any theorizing as to why the S2 release might be pushing, until we have further clarity on the looming writers’ strike and other factors a bit later this Spring.
One point is certain, though: Fans love Power Book IV: Force.
Last year, the spinoff starring Chicago native Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan set a record as the most-watched series premiere in Starz network history, reeling in 3.3 million multi-platform views for its February 6th, 2022 debut, in the U.S. alone.
The Season Two order from Starz was inevitable and enthusiastic.
“Fans have been eagerly awaiting Joseph’s return as the iconic ‘Tommy Egan’ and from the show’s record-setting debut, it was clear right away that they want to see another season of him taking on this new city,” Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO at STARZ, in announcing the season renewal. “We are thrilled to have Joseph back in the ‘Power’ Universe and to be expanding the world with a new tapestry of power players brought to life by our fantastic cast.”
