On Tuesday, SAG-AFTRA and WGA joined forces with the AFL-CIO and its affiliates from across the nation and across industries for a National Day of Solidarity. Hundreds of union members and allies gathered at Chicago’s famous Buckingham Fountain from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Central on Tuesday to celebrate the union solidarity that is carrying the joint effort across this hot labor summer.

Power Book IV: Force and Empire Stars Highlighted Guest Speaker Roster

Chicago SAG-AFTRA members Anthony Fleming III and Ta’Rhonda Jones were among the speakers leading the charge at Tuesday’s rally. Fleming III is best known for his role as “JP Gibbs” in the made-in-Chicago Starz series Power Book IV: Force. Jones is best known for her star turn as “Porsha Taylor” in the popular Fox filmed-in-Chicago series Empire.   

Fleming III and Jones were joined at the podium by Jesús G. “Chuy” García, the US representative for Illinois’s fourth district, Fred Redmond, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO, and others.
