The theatrical premiere of Chicago-made critics’ pick Tom of Your Life at the historic Music Box Theater opened with a vibrant and entertaining opening weekend reception in the Music Box Lounge. Director Jer Sklar and Cinematographer Christopher Rejano were among the guests, with live music from Sklar’s band The Blackstrap Molasses.
Here are a few highlights to get you started…
When a child is born at a rural hospital who ages, grows and evolves four years every hour, a rebellious nurse takes him on the road to show him what life is all about on the one day he’ll have to live it in this coming -and going- of age fable from first-time writer-director Jer Sklar featuring songs from his band The Blackstrap Molasses.
Sun-Times film critic Richard Roeper called Tom Of Your Life “one of my favorite films of 2020” and Award Winning Writer-Director Paul Schrader says “Sklar does what independent cinema does best: tickles and entertains the brain.” Also featuring a special appearance by Chicago acting legend Mike Nussbaum.
