PETERMAYER Showcases Louisiana In New Film For Tourism Office

New Orleans-based PETERMAYER is wooing visitors to the Pelican State with a new short film titled, Find Your Louisiana.

Created for the Louisiana Office of TourismFind Your Louisiana follows-up on the title’s command with a fun-loving, 77-second whirlwind of food, music and culture. As people describe their ideal notion of the state, it goes from swamp to city, bar to barbecue and fishing hole to juke joint.

There’s also a moment of reflection when a young woman visiting a plantation explains that, “seeing history as it really happened” is “the best part of my Louisiana.”

Along the way, healthy servings of gumbo, shrimp and crawfish mix with jazz, Cajun and zydeco music to reinforce the promise of the closing tagline — “When you find your Louisiana, you feed your soul.”

“We want tourists to realize that there’s so much more to do in Louisiana besides Bourbon Street,” says PETERMAYER Chief Creative Officer Matt Kuttan. “It isn’t for spectators. It’s for participants.”

BEHIND THE SCENES
New Orleans production company Fire On The Bayou, led by Director Jake Ladehoff, captured the visuals during an intense two-week over the summer. Grammy-winning Louisiana native Jay Weigel composed the spot’s original score and tapped a number of homegrown musicians to perform it. The resulting audiovisual buffet includes live musicians playing the French Quarter, Baton Rouge and a handful of cozy dive bars.

Chief Creative Officer Matt Kuttan tapped Group Creative Directors James Fletcher and Lee Taylor to lead PETERMAYER’s creative team. Understanding that the state is occasionally viewed as a “one-dimensional” destination known for a “handful of festivals each year,” they highlight more than enough treasures to prove that Louisiana is a beautiful, dynamic and groovy destination.
