Sneak Peek at Patrick Lives On Film Showcase
The Patrick Lives On showcase and fundraiser is a multifunctional tradition of Chicago film. A cinematic presentation, a networking event and a celebration of food and drink, the annual testament to Chicago’s moviemaking community makes its eighth run this Saturday at Resolution Studios. Besides celebrating some of the most accomplished actors, directors and writers in the business, the experience welcomes students and newbies with marked enthusiasm.
To that end, the program includes raffles for more than $30,000 of film-related prizes including camera packages and stage rentals, donated by sponsors that include Keslow, Obe and Panavision.
The event takes place Saturday March 22 at Resolution Studios. Cocktails will be served when the doors open at 6 pm. The showcase starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available here.
Chicago-based Director Patricia Frontain launched Patrick Lives On after losing her son Patrick to an act of senseless violence nine years ago. Transforming her grief into action, she now follows through on a desire to comfort teens and prevent other families from experiencing similar trauma.
“My son Patrick lives on to encourage all filmmakers to create and share their non-violent themed short stories through film” she says. “This fundraising event is an opportunity for our local film community to share their work with their peers, friends and family while helping to raise funds for a worthy cause.”
Of course, the main focus of the night is a screening of films that includes shorts and docs, comedy, drama and documentary. This year includes work by McKenzie Chinn (A Real One), Tiffany Bedwell & John Mossman (Fitting Descriptions), Tayler Gilchrist (Buttress), Rocco Cataldo & Amy Guth (Elvis of the Yukon), and Frontain herself (Feed the Horses).
