Senior Director and Head of Production Otto Linwood Answers Five Questions with SCREEN

What do Chris Rock, John Legend, and the best season in Miami of Ohio football history have in common? They’re all right here as Senior Director and Head of Production at Whirlpool Corporation Otto Linwood stopped by for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!

SCREEN: What is your most prized possession?

OTTO: I personally value experiences and memories over physical possessions, so this is tricky – however, a single videotape of my late mother is a physical memory I’ll hold onto forever.

SCREEN: Your favorite commercial ever?

Nike has done some incredibly entertaining work over the years from “It’s Gotta Be the Shoes” with Spike Lee and Michael Jordan to Lil Penny with Chris Rock, but their “Find Your Greatness” spot with the jogger is one of my favorites. Masterfully cast and written with strong narration and the simplicity of a single shot. Powerful work with a lasting message…

Here is the “Find Your Greatness” spot…

SCREEN: Most famous person you’ve ever met?

OTTO: Being in production, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with a lot of famous folks: Mike Meyers & Dana Carvey, Simone Biles, Cardi B, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, and others. But during my honeymoon in Santorini, I ran into Rick Ross in a random alley and have video proof of the encounter!

Best advice you’ve ever been given?

OTTO: My college football coach would often say “Have a plan, work the plan, plan for the unexpected” – this applied to life much more than it applied to sports.

SCREEN: Speaking of college football… What’s your greatest athletic achievement?

OTTO: My freshman year of college football at Miami of Ohio, we won a conference championship and a bowl game, finishing the season 13-1 and ranked #10 in the country. The best season in school history.

Otto, this one is for you! Relive the 2003 conference championship game right here…

BONUS QUESTIONS!

SCREEN: Worst job ever?

OTTO: Data Entry for a retailer website – brutal.

SCREEN: If you could be a member of any musical group in history, what would it be?

OTTO: I grew up on 70’s music, so I’d say The Spinners. They’ve got classic ballads, tons of style and are still globally recognized. Just traveled to Europe and heard their songs multiple times while there.

Enjoy this one from the Soul Train archives, Otto!

SCREEN: What’s that TV show you’re a little embarrassed to admit you love to watch?

OTTO: Love Island and Too Hot To Handle on Netflix – both are cheesy and mindless, but the drama and absurdity sucks me in.
