One Chicago Update: ‘Chicago Fire’ Wraps This Week… But Will It Be Renewed for Another Season?

A spring and summer break is fast approaching for the Dick Wolf triumvirate of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D... but will the shows be renewed for another season by NBC?

While sources tell SCREEN NBC is expected to renew all three One Chicago series for the 2025-2026 season, an official announcement has not yet been made by the network. Sources tell SCREEN that what might be delaying the renewal announcement is negotiations over whether the three shows will be renewed for one season or two. Again, this is all speculation at this point, but an official announcement is expected very soon.

Until then, let’s turn our attention back to the current season. The One Chicago mothership Chicago Fire will wrap filming this Thursday, April 17th. Chicago Med finished up filming Wednesday, March 26th, while Chicago PD wrapped on April 1st.

Ratings Continue to Roar

New episodes are released on Wednesdays and the One Chicago franchises are currently among the top shows of the night in total viewers.

This season, the most notable ratings winner was, of course, the One Chicago crossover, its first since 2019. The opening hour of the #OneChicago crossover drew 6.3 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating (season highs for Chicago Fire), the second hour (6.6 mil/0.5) hit and tied season highs for Chicago Med, and the closing hour (6.4 mil/0.5) marked season highs for Chicago P.D.

Speaking of ratings, the most watched moments of One Chicago Wednesdays are often all about the heroic efforts of these first responders. Here’s a look at some particularly powerful scenes from the franchises, courtesy of NBC…
