New Kids on the Block’s Joey McIntyre the Latest Addition to ‘Chicago Fire’ Cast

ChiHards will enjoy some 90s nostalgia in the latest episode of Chicago Fire. New Kids on the Block artist Joey McIntyre will be jumping into a firefighter uniform to appear in Season 12 of Chicago Fire. The episode airs tonight, Wednesday, May 15th, and will be available via streaming soon thereafter.

In the upcoming episode, McIntyre plays Lorenzo, a firefighter at a competing station who shows a fun, competitive spirit with Tony (Tony Ferraris) and Capp (Randy Flagler) when they try to break a firetruck “fastest rescue squad pull” record.

McIntyre first announced the news on Instagram on Monday, May 13, writing, “Surprise! Had a blast repping a rival firehouse with these good people on @NBCOneChicago fans: tune in to see me in the role of “Lorenzo” on #ChicagoFire this Wednesday at 9/8c on @NBC!”

The post included various photos of McIntyre on set and with members of the cast. His New Kids on the Block bandmate Donnie Wahlberg showed his support by commenting on the post, “Let’s go! 🔥”

The cast continues to evolve for Firehouse 51. Deadline reported earlier this month that Walker will scale back his series regular role as Wallace Boden after Season 12 but is expected to reprise it in a recurring capacity in future seasons.

As for the McIntyre, it’s a busy week for the 90’s pop star as the New Kids on the Block’s upcoming album, Still Kids, will be released on Friday, May 17.

Chicago Fire airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
