Milwaukee Film March Programming Features Michelle Yeoh Retrospective, Awards Viewing Party, Author Felicia Day in Person and More
While gearing up for the 2026 Milwaukee Film Festival to start on April 16, Milwaukee Film has a great selection of programming and events to keep audiences entertained throughout March. Women’s History Month inspired Milwaukee Film’s team of programmers to curate a slate of films that celebrate the work of Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh, set to screen throughout the month alongside several new releases from up and coming female filmmakers. This month also features a free Awards Night Viewing Party at the Oriental Theatre, as well as an evening with actress, author, and internet star Felicia Day, in partnership with Boswell Book Company.
Just Say Yeoh: The Action Films of Michelle Yeoh – Begins March 6, 2026
In honor of Women’s History Month, Milwaukee Film’s programming team invites viewers to bask in the glory of cinema icon Michelle Yeoh through four of her most influential films, including Everything Everywhere All At Once—the film that finally won her the Academy Award for Best Actress. Folks won’t want to miss the chance to see this retrospective on the big screen.
The full lineup for Just Say Yeoh: The Action Films of Michelle Yeoh:
● Everything Everywhere All at Once – 3/6 at 6 PM
● The Heroic Trio – 3/14 at 9 PM
● Heroic Trio 2: The Executioners – 3/21 at 9 PM
● Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon – 3/28 at 6:30 PM
“Michelle Yeoh is a true renaissance woman, between the musical sensation Wicked and the in-flight staple Crazy Rich Asians, but we were inspired to get back to her roots—being an absolute badass martial artist,” enthused Milwaukee Film’s Programming Director Kerstin Larson. “We were all dazzled by her Oscar-winning turn in the mind blowing Everything Everywhere All At Once and her decades spanning oeuvre has even more to offer, so come out to the theatre this March to enjoy every punch, kick, and flip from this trailblazing star.”
New Releases from Female Filmmakers – Throughout March 2026
Milwaukee Film proudly champions the work of female filmmakers on a year-round basis, so it comes as no surprise that several new releases slated for screenings this month come from some of the most exciting women currently working behind the lens. Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut The Chronology of Water, writer/director Nastasya Popov’s breakout irreverent comedy Idiotka, and filmmaking duo Sara Khaki and Mohammad Reza Eyni’s poignant documentary Cutting Through Rocks, which follows the first Iranian woman elected as councilwoman in a rural village. Plus: The Bride!, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s reimagining of The Bride of Frankenstein, starring Hamnet actress Jessie Buckley.
Awards Night: Let’s Watch the Winners – March 15, 2026
On March 15, folks are invited to the Oriental Theatre for a free Awards Viewing Party to celebrate Hollywood’s most glamorous night. Local movie-lovers will have the chance to walk the Oriental Theatre’s red carpet, watch the awards broadcast on the big screen, and compete in picking the winners (best bragging rights of the year if you’re the best prognosticator amongst this audience!). Doors open at 5 PM, and the live broadcast begins at 6 PM.
Milwaukee Film’s Executive Director Susan Kerns expressed, “Every year, I struggle to figure out how to watch the awards on live TV, and then struggle to find people dedicated enough to watch the entire ceremony with me! This year Milwaukee Film is turning one of our theaters into a giant living room for film fans to watch together. We know our community will be watching at home, so we thought: why not make it a party?”
An Evening with Felicia Day – March 19, 2026
Boswell Book Company and Milwaukee Film present an evening with actress, author, and internet star Felicia Day, featuring her new graphic novel, The Lost Daughter of Sparta, a feminist reimagining of ancient mythology. In this clever, engaging graphic retelling, Felicia Day paints a vivid portrait of the mythical life of Helen of Troy’s forgotten sister, Philonoe. This event is proudly co-sponsored by Lion’s Tooth.
Felicia Day is author of You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) and Embrace Your Weird. An award winning actor, TV writer, and web series creator, Day has appeared in television shows and films, including Supernatural, The Magicians, and Mystery Science Theater 3000, and starred in the seminal web series The Guild.
This event takes place at the Oriental Theatre on Thursday, March 19th at 7 PM. Tickets cost $38 and each ticket includes admission for one and a signed copy of The Lost Daughter of Sparta. All Tickets and showtimes can be found online at mkefilm.org/comingsoon.
