Megan St. John Answers Five Questions with SCREEN
The holidays are here and so is an entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN! This week, Hike Creative Founder and Producer Megan St. John stopped by and shared stories of the inimitable Ed Sheeran, holiday retail he**, and the best advice ever. Let’s get to it!
SCREEN: Most famous person you’ve ever met?
MEGAN: I got to meet Ed Sheeran during a commercial shoot in Chicago and he was the nicest. So friendly to everyone on set and a great sense of humor!
[Editor’s Note: Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John just released a holiday duet so what better song to share right here?]
SCREEN: Worst job ever?
MEGAN: Retail. During holiday season.
SCREEN: Your greatest athletic achievement?
MEGAN: I am about to run my first half-marathon, so – assuming I don’t bow out between now and then – that will be my greatest athletic achievement!
SCREEN: Your go-to karaoke song?
MEGAN: Anything Britney. Enough said.
[Editor’s Note: Ok Megan, you’re up!]
SCREEN: The hardest you’ve ever laughed?
MEGAN: My mom is the funniest person I know. She is always making me laugh.
BONUS QUESTIONS!
SCREEN: Best advice you’ve ever been given?
MEGAN: “Worry about it later.” My mom told me this when I was making my first short film. I had just graduated college and was not in a place financially to make a movie, but I was determined to make it happen. I was stressing about how I would fund the film. My mom told me that if making a movie was something I really wanted to do, that I would find a way to make it happen even if that meant I needed to put some costs on a credit card and “worry about it later.” This sentiment has stuck with me over the years as I made big life choices like starting my own business. When you know it’s right, you know it’s right, and even if the stars aren’t aligned right away you will figure out a way to make it happen.
SCREEN: What are you looking forward to in 2022?
MEGAN: 2021 has been filled with a variety of projects, providing lots of opportunities for creativity and growth for myself and my team. As 2021 wraps up and we move into 2022, I’m excited to keep making awesome content with the wonderful people I work with in Chicago. I’m also really looking forward to closing out the year with a narrative project that I am writing and directing.
