Magdalena Hernandez Answers Five Questions with SCREEN
90 Day Fiance, Aquaman, and the National Museum of Chocolate! It’s all here as Cutters Studios Editor Magdalena Hernandez Answers Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!
SCREEN: Your go-to karaoke song?
MAGDALENA: “Ain’t no Mountain High Enough.” Because it’s such a happy song! Plus, most people know it and it’s always great to sing it along with someone else. “Hit Me Baby One More Time” is a close second.
[Editor’s Note: Ok Magdalena, you can sing along right now to your favorite tune, here it is!]
SCREEN: Well it’s almost Spring so we will ask… your best Spring Break or Spring Vacation ever?
MAGDALENA: Spring Break was not a big thing in Colombia, but my favorite Spring memory is seeing snow for the first time. I was visiting my then boyfriend in Minneapolis and one morning while he was at work I went out for a walk around the neighborhood. It was mid-April and in classic Minnesota fashion it started to snow. I had no idea where these “fluffy flowers” were coming from and I kept looking up trying to find the trees that were dropping them. “It’s gotta be a common tree here in Minnesota,” I kept telling myself. When I got home and looked out the window I realized it had been snowing the whole time! I ran outside and enjoyed the snow, this time fully aware of what it actually was.
SCREEN: Your favorite commercial ever?
MAGDALENA: This is a hard one! I am a huge fan of docu-style commercials like P&G’s “Thank You Mama”, Google’s “Loretta” and UK National Lottery’s “This Girl Can”. However, my recent favorite is Reform Alliance’s “Give Life Back”. It is a simple yet powerful ad, that with beautiful cinematography and impeccable editing delivers a very important message in a memorable way.
Bonus Track: “A Vodka Movie” by Tim & Eric for Absolute Vodka. Pure gold.
[Editor’s Note: Ok we will take you up on that bonus track, here it is, starring Tim and Eric and their pal Zach Galifianakis...]
SCREEN: One meal, one restaurant, and we’re buying. What will it be?
MAGDALENA: Gallinitas Al Horno (Roasted Cornish Hen with Mole) from Kie-Gol-Lanee in Uptown.

SCREEN: On that note… Weekend getaway. Anywhere. Where to?
MAGDALENA: Villa de Leyva. This small town 3 hours away from Bogotá is one of my favorite places in the world. The weather is perfect, the mountains are breath-taking and it’s full of cute restaurants and shops, including the National Museum of Chocolate!
[Ok let’s take a quick trip to Bogotá and the National Museum of Chocolate!]
BONUS QUESTIONS!
SCREEN: Most famous person you’ve ever met?
MAGDALENA: Jason Momoa [best known for his role as Aquaman in the DC Universe] on set for Rocket Mortgage’s Super Bowl Commercial in 2020. I was sitting somewhat near him in between takes when he told a joke, I laughed and we made eye contact. All of a sudden my body realized it couldn’t handle whatever it was going on and went into full survival mode. My legs started walking me out of set and I kept thinking “What is going on?! Why am I leaving?!” But, I trusted my instincts were protecting me from an imminent embarrassing situation, so I let my body take me safe and sound back to my editing tent.
What’s that TV show you’re a little embarrassed to admit you love to watch?
MAGDALENA: 90 Day Fiancé. I know, I know… I wouldn’t say I love it, but it can be very entertaining and the editing really surprises me sometimes! I can tell they have fun putting that show together. I don’t watch it alone, if that makes it better?
[Editor’s Note: And here’s your first look at the new season of 90 Day Fiance premiering in April…]
