Jesse Lee Soffer as Detective Jay Halstead on Chicago PD

Jesse Lee Soffer to Reunite with ‘Chicago PD’ Co-Creator Matt Olmstead for New CBS Drama ‘Strike Force’

Jesse Lee Soffer is returning to the small screen! The former ‘Chicago PD’ star has signed on as the lead role in ‘Strike Force’, a new law enforcement drama under development at CBS. The project will reunite him with Matt Olmstead, who co-created ‘Chicago PD’ with Dick Wolf and eventually served as a showrunner for four seasons.

In ‘Strike Force’ Soffer will play “a battle-tested DEA agent who returns home to Kansas City to lead a multi-agency strike force targeting the violent criminals now trying to exploit America’s heartland.” Both Soffer and Olmstead, who wrote the script, will executive produce with Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed from Jerry Bruckheimer TV.

This is more than just a reunion for Jesee Lee Soffer and Matt Olmstead, who are very familiar with one another. It’s also a homecoming for Soffer at CBS. After leaving ‘PD’, he starred as Supervisory Special Agent Wes Mitchell on the network’s ‘FBI: International’, before it signed off last May. Olmstead was also a writer and executive producer on that series as well.

‘Strike Force’, which is still operating under a working title, was one of three new projects to move past the pilot script stage with CBS. It is slated to hit the air in 2027-2028.
