IFA, IPA and Chicago Media Angels Team Up for Tax Incentive Discussion Wednesday

IFA Chicago will be bringing together Illinois Production Alliance Executive Director Christine Dudley and Chicago Media Angels Executive Director Ted Reilly for an in-depth virtual conversation on the expanded Illinois State Film Tax Incentive. Topics include tax incentive basics, what to expect with the recent expansion of the incentive, and how to leverage the tax incentive to help finance your projects. The discussion will be moderated by IFA Executive Director & independent film producer Angie Gaffney.

This discussion is part of IFA Chicago’s “Business of Filmmaking” program. IFA is committed to providing the business knowledge, mentorship, and resources to make independent filmmaking a sustainable career. The “Business of Filmmaking” is a program designed to empower independent producers with the knowledge they need to create high-quality, commercially viable, and financially successful projects. ABOUT TED REILLY

Ted Reilly is the Executive Director of the Chicago Media Angels, whose mission is to organize, educate and accelerate savvy media investors in Chicago. Ted is the co-founder of CMA SECURED CAPITAL which provides capital to projects secured by tax incentives, pre-sales and other collateral unique to film production. He has been credited as Executive Produced on dozens of films, including COME AS YOU ARE, ONCE UPON A RIVER and THE YEAR BETWEEN.

Before launching his own company to focus on content as an asset class, Ted worked in the investment management division of Goldman Sachs and received his BBA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.

ABOUT CHRISTINE T. DUDLEY

Christine T. Dudley serves as the Executive Director of the Illinois Production Alliance. From 2015-2019, she served as the Director of the Illinois Film Office overseeing a historic growth in revenue, jobs, and programming. Her work cemented Illinois’ spot as the Midwest destination for film production and one of the top states for film and television production overall.

During her tenure with the state, nearly $2 billion was reported in film spending in Illinois. In her role with IPA she spearheaded a coalition of industry stakeholders in the development of, and advocacy for legislation that expanded the Illinois Film Production Tax Incentive program and established of an industry supported Workforce Development Fund. The legislation was signed into law in April 2020.
