‘Iconic Stories: Made in Illinois’ Hollywood Reception a Stellar Success, Led by Pritzker, IPA

The Iconic Stories: Made in Illinois reception capped off Governor J.B. Pritzker’s marketing mission to Hollywood, and celebrated the booming Illinois television and film production industry. During the reception, presented by the Illinois Production Alliance and a host of sponsors, Pritzker discussed the benefits of filming in Illinois, including key findings of the first-ever Economic Impact Study of the Illinois Film Production Services Tax Credit commissioned by the IPA and published in January 2024. The festivities were hosted by Chicago native and emcee Matt Walsh, star of Veep and the Apple TV+ series Manhunt.

The Iconic Stories: Made in Illinois reception took place Wednesday March 27th at the NBC Universal lot in Los Angeles.

“When production companies set their sights on Illinois, they are signing up for much more than our state’s attractive Film Production Services Tax Credit. They’re getting picturesque locations, first-rate infrastructure, and perhaps most importantly, they gain access to a diverse workforce brimming with talent,” said Eric Chaudron, President of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Production Alliance and Executive Director of Chicago SAG-AFTRA. “Our recent mission to Los Angeles, dubbed ‘Iconic Stories: Made in Illinois’ showcased this perfectly. Thanks to Governor JB Pritzker’s efforts in making a compelling case to studios, we were able to communicate that Illinois is open for business, and that we offer a safe and welcoming environment for cast and crew to live their full lives once they step off the set. It’s a rare consensus in today’s world, but on this, everyone agrees — labor, business, and government alike — ramping up film and television production in Illinois is a win-win-win scenario for everyone involved.”

From the golden age of silent film, to Bueller, Blues Brothers, and Batman; to current productions including The BearSomebody Somewhere, NBC’s One Chicago series, and upcoming features like We Grown Now and Ghostlight, Illinois has enjoyed a starring role in Hollywood history. Iconic Stories: Made in Illinois celebrates that history while sharing Governor Pritzker’s vision for the future of the Illinois production community. With our world-class crews, growing production infrastructure, and generous film production tax credit – there’s no place like Illinois.
