Five Questions with The Colonie’s Zach Day

What do Matthew McConaughey, an epic round of billiards, and the best oysters ever have in common? They’re all right here as The Colonie Producer Zach Day stops by for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!

SCREEN: Most famous person you’ve ever met?

ZACH: Alright, alright, alright, that would have to be Matthew McConaughey. I produced two years of the NCBA National Cattleman’s Beef Association campaign, Matthew McConaughey was the voice of Beef. We sipped Miller Lite’s per his request after the AVO session.

Well, Zach, Mr. McConaughey opens the intro to his YouTube with “alright alright alright” so it’s the perfect video clip for this article (also, we had no idea MM had his own YouTube channel until just now)

SCREEN: One restaurant, one meal, anywhere you want, and we’re buying. What will it be?

ZACH: Bavette’s: Oysters, Dirty Martini, Bone in Ribeye, Creamed Spinach and Button Mushrooms. If you haven’t been, it’s a Chicago must.

Close second would be Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company. Their Mediterranean Flatbread and Italian Fiesta Salad are incredible!

Here’s a look at that flatbread (Photo credit: Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company)…

SCREEN: What is your most prized possession?

ZACH: Our 1949 home in Flossmoor, IL, that my wife and I have restored would be one of my most prized possessions. We have curated and collected a plethora of unique items that make our home one of a kind.

SCREEN: Your greatest athletic achievement?

ZACH: Ha. If you know me, you’d know this question isn’t something I would have an answer for. I have taken a strong interest in billiards. I purchased a vintage Brunswick table during the pandemic and have really upped my game!

Additionally, my greatest family-focused athletic achievements are watching my children grow as players through competitive basketball.

SCREEN: If you could appoint ANYONE to be the next President of the United States, who would it be?

ZACH: We need way more diversity when it comes to political power in this country. Our next president should be a woman of color. Or, laws would need to be re-written because I would want Barack Obama back in office.

SCREEN: Best advice you’ve ever been given?

ZACH: Don’t take for granted watching your kids grow up. My boys are 13 and 10 and although they are still young, it’s crazy how quickly the adolescent years are flying by. I feel like I’ve heard this from every veteran parent.
