Five Questions with SCREEN: Executive Creative Director Jason Strong

What do Johnny Depp, Led Zeppelin, and the Devil’s Tower have in common? They are all right here in this week’s Five Questions with SCREEN! Latitude is an indie, award-winning design agency based in Minneapolis. Jason Strong is Executive Creative Director at the agency and stopped by for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Qs. Let’s get to it!

SCREEN: If you could be a member of any musical group in history, what would it be?

Led Zeppelin. They are the greatest rock band of all time, IMHO.

Jason (and all of us) will relish this iconic performance by Led Zeppelin at Madison Square Garden…

SCREEN: Your favorite restaurant in Minneapolis? What do we order when we go?

JASON: Borough. Get the parlor burger with fries.

SCREEN: Most famous person you’ve ever met?

JASON: Johnny Depp backstage at a charity event with my son, Saunder. He said, “Who’s this handsome fellow?” to me about him. My son smiled ear to ear.

SCREEN: Your favorite commercial ever?

JASON: Errol Morris’ Miller High Life–Deviled Egg – YouTube. It is unapologetically authentic to its core audience – the working man – and uses humor perfectly and tightly to play up the product’s benefit. In this case, one deviled egg is left on a plate, and since he is choosing a light beer, there is room for the last one. Of course, this was shot as a series, and each is brilliant and on brief.

SCREEN: What is your most prized possession?

JASON: My family. They are my best project by far. They are each unique in their own way, fun-loving, creative, kind, hard-working, and a riot to be around.

SCREEN: Worst job ever?

JASON: A summer job during college for an HVAC and plumbing contractor. I gave up my incredible job at a waterpark for more money and harder work. I had to crawl around ceilings to install ductwork, as well as dig ditches and install faucets in hotel renovation projects.

SCREEN: Your greatest athletic achievement?

JASON: Summiting Devil’s Tower. At the time, I was working for Duffy Worldwide, and they had a program called “Dreamcatchers” where employees could pitch a trip and get it partially funded. I chose to climb Devil’s Tower with my climbing partner at the time. I had been climbing single pitches on the north shore of Minnesota and other areas around the Midwest but never attempted a multi-pitch. Looking back, it was a dream come true and easily one of my top 10 achievements.

SCREEN: Best advice you’ve ever been given?

JASON: “You’re judged by how you respond to adversity.”
