What do Twilight, Elastigirl, and the cutest cats ever have in common? They’re all right here as Optimus Editor Caralyn Moore stops by for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!
SCREEN: Thanks for stopping, Caralyn! Ok, so what is your favorite commercial ever?
CARALYN: This is pure dumb nostalgia, but growing up in the era of bizarre candy commercials, the first thing that comes to mind is Starburst Berries and Cream. My siblings and I delighted in obnoxious reenactments (sorry, mom and dad).
SCREEN: One meal, one restaurant, and we’re buying. What will it be?
CARALYN: Omakase at Q Sushi, please and thank you!
Or fresh pasta… I’m open to recommendations. Preferably in Italy.
SCREEN: What’s that TV show you’re a little embarrassed to admit you love to watch?
CARALYN: This is not a TV show (thankfully) but by far the most embarrassing thing I love/hate to watch is Twilight. My husband and I watch the entire Saga every Valentine’s Day. It started out ironically, and now it’s just tradition.
What a wonderful tradition! Here is a look at the box office hit for the rest of us…
SCREEN: What is your most prized possession?
CARALYN: My save-in-a-fire possession would probably be the giant hard drive that holds all my old home videos, photos, and projects from over the years.
Oh, but if cats count, then of course I would choose my baby angels Florence and Ziggy. (Not possessions, per se, but can’t not give them a shout out!)

SCREEN: If you could be any superhero, who would it be?
CARALYN: I really don’t know my superheroes, sorry! I’m more of a Disney girl — in that vein, I guess I would have to say Elastigirl. She’s pretty badass… and you can’t beat the Incredibles soundtrack.

SCREEN: Describe your perfect weekend!
CARALYN: If you know me, you can probably guess… I’d be at the beach! It’s a beautiful day, my feet are in the sand, I’m in the middle of a good book, my phone is nowhere to be seen. Just blue skies and waves… hakuna matata.
SCREEN: Worst job ever?
CARALYN: No truly terrible jobs, thankfully, but three specific moments come to mind that I’d prefer not to relive. One: working at a movie theater, cleaning vomit splattered all over a trash can. Two: my first day at Ben & Jerry’s, struggling to scoop ice cream with a line of impatient customers out the door. Three: as a delivery driver for Jimmy John’s, I locked myself out of my car (with three orders inside)… yikes!
SCREEN: Best advice you’ve ever received?
CARALYN: Editing is about decision making. And as with most decisions, there’s not always one right answer. Don’t overthink it – go with your gut.
