Five Questions with Editor Devon Bradbury of Cutters Studios

What do David Bowie, the U.S. Women’s National Team, and the most adorable photo in Five Questions history have in common? They’re all right here as Editor Devon Bradbury of Cutters Studios stops by for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!

SCREEN: Most famous person you’ve ever met?

DEVON: Josh Brolin and Diane Lane almost got in my rental car in Kauai by mistake, but we never talked about it. They thought it was really silly and honestly, same.

SCREEN: If you could play any superhero in a major motion picture, who would it be?

DEVON: I guess I would have to trust the kid in me and be Superman. When I was a little kid I was OBSESSED with the Christopher Reeve movies. I used to run around with the kitchen towel tucked under my collar, flapping behind me like a cape. Then I upgraded for Halloween, donned the costume, and was full-on Superman, little curl and everything. I loved the idea of being able to fly, I even did a nose dive off of a saw horse and had to go to the hospital but I’m all the stronger for it today.

And thank you, Devon, for sharing this adorable photo!

SCREEN: Your favorite commercial ever?

DEVON: Whenever I’m asked this question I find my brain going to this Cosmopolitan ad that first made me interested in editing for advertising. It’s alluring, interesting, abstract, weird, graphic, and simple yet complex. It does so much in the span of 30 seconds which really intrigued me and still does!

Ok Devon, sounds compelling, let’s take a look!

SCREEN: What is your most prized possession?

DEVON: Tough one, I think it’s a tie between this rare pink princess philodendron plant I’ve raised from a tiny root (I’m a bit of a plant nut) and my dog Raybees. Of whom, I do not possess but she comes to mind as she has ‘possessed’ qualities and I love her in spite of that.

SCREEN: If you could be a member of any musical group in history, what would it be?

DEVON: It would have to be David Bowie. He was so effortlessly cool, queer, stylish, and comfortable in his skin. And that bulge in Labyrinth, come on!

Let’s leap back to Labyrinth and the inimitable David Bowie for a moment in this clip…

BONUS QUESTIONS!

SCREEN: What is your favorite restaurant on the planet? What do we order when we go?

DEVON: The answer must be Ops in Brooklyn, NY. We order an entire bottle of delicious natural wine, marinated beets, a big salad, and the full onion, full goddamn flawless Cicero pizza. I will not be sharing.

SCREEN: What’s that TV show you’re a little embarrassed to admit you love to watch?

The snobby, elitist sitcom and Cheers spinoff show Frasier. I might have a tee shirt to prove my fandom. The writing is just witty, hilarious, and iconic. Growing up in the 90s, I still can find comfort in multicam sitcoms like Fraiser where the stakes are low and the jokes are reliable so I often find myself rewatching this series when I need a mental hug…

SCREEN: If you could only be a fan of one sports team, which would it be?

DEVON: I don’t like sports but I love women so it would have to be the US Women’s National Team because they are talented, hot, and inspirational. If you’re reading this article – Rapinoe, can we be friends… on Instagram?
