Five Questions with charlie uniform tango’s Catherine Thomas

What do Hamilton, the best BBQ in Texas, and the cutest dog ever have in common? They’re all right here as Visual Effects Artist Catherine Thomas of Texas-based charlieuniformtango stopped by for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!

SCREEN: Best advice you’ve ever been given?

CATHERINE: When I was a kid my dad always used to tell me “Be flexible, not collapsible”. I didn’t always understand what he meant by that at the time, but I have found in my adult life that it is always something I come back to when I am put in a stressful situation. And honestly it really helps me to see the bigger picture, adapt to my surroundings, and know that everything is going to turn out just fine.

SCREEN: If you could be a member of any musical group in history, what would it be?

CATHERINE: It’s a bit unconventional, but I would be a part of the original cast of Hamilton! I LOVE that musical and have memorized all the songs.

Ok Catherine, here’s a montage of the Top 20 Hamilton songs, courtesy of MsMojo…

SCREEN: What is your most prized possession?

CATHERINE: I hate saying this because I don’t like to think of myself as her owner, but rather as family, but my most prized possession would probably be my dog, Daisy. She is a sweet 3 year old border collie and the absolute joy of my life.

And thank you to Catherine to providing this perfect pic of her pup…

SCREEN: Your favorite restaurant in Texas? What do we order when we go?

CATHERINE: This is a tough one, but I’m going to have to say Neely’s in Marshall, TX. Their pulled pork sandwich, called the “Brown Pig”, and their special BBQ sauce is *chefs kiss*. The original Neely’s closed in 2021, but there is another restaurant in Marshall called Porky’s that has the recipe and calls it “The Porky Pig”. Not as a good, but a very close second!

SCREEN: Your go-to karaoke song?

CATHERINE: I will jam out to literally ANY Disney song. I am a terrible singer, but play “I’ll make a man out of you” form Mulan or “Let It Go” from Frozen and I’ll sing all night!

SCREEN: Worst job ever?

CATHERINE: I won’t name the location, but right out of college I interned for a city television station. It wasn’t terrible, and I learned a lot, but I worked in a studio of all men. I was the only woman except for the executive producer (whom I didn’t work with directly), and I constantly felt like I was being talked down to.

SCREEN: Your greatest athletic achievement?

CATHERINE: Some may not consider this activity “athletic”, but I was in marching band in high school. I auditioned for 3 years to be a drum major and FINALLY was selected my senior year. It was one of the best years of my life and I look back on those memories very fondly.
