Five Questions with Mark Ruff of Bounce Sound Studios
What do Pink Floyd, John Travolta, and an all-time-great beer commercial have in common? They’re all right here as award-winning sound designer, mixer and partner Mark Ruff of Bounce Sound Studios stops by for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!
SCREEN: If you could be a member of any musical group in history, what would it be?
MARK: Pink Floyd. Why? So I could explain The Dark Side of the Moon phenomenon.
Editor’s Note: Mark, this one is for you…
SCREEN: What is your most prized possession?
MARK: My smart eye-ware. Is there any other invention that can make a thousand adjustments a day flawlessly without power?
SCREEN: Most famous person you’ve ever met?
I recorded Barack Obama‘s first radio spot and John Travolta for a film job. I also worked with Jane Lynch quite a bit before she headed out to LA.
Editor’s Note: Thank you to Mark for sharing his photo with Mr. Travolta with us, here it is…

SCREEN: Your favorite commercial ever?
MARK: Budweiser “Wassup”
SCREEN: What is your greatest fear?
MARK: Losing my Lil Bear in a foreign country. We started our world tour in Panama on March 28th.
Editor’s Note: Here’s a photo from that world tour with his Lil Bear, courtesy of Mark…
