Finding Symbiosis in the Vast Expanse: Benjamin Font on ‘Again and Again Then The End’

For screenwriter, director, and actor Benjamin Font, storytelling is an act of filling the void. Growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska – dead center of the continental United States – the ISA Development Slate writer was surrounded not by oceans, but by the vast, endless expanse of the Great Plains. It was a landscape that demanded imagination.

”I filled it with imagination,” Font reflects on his Midwest roots. “Anything was possible.” That upbringing instilled a distinct perspective that guides his work today, alongside a specific Midwestern “love language” rooted in how people communicate and move through the world. “We have a way of finding each other,” he says.

That instinct for connection lies at the heart of Font’s latest project, Again and Again Then The End, an existential comedy currently in post-production. Co-directed with his longtime filmmaking partner Noah Applebaum and produced by Jacquelyn Ryan-Krichevsky, the feature film serves as a reminder that “romance isn’t everything, but love is.” The story explores a deeply platonic friendship between two artists searching for meaning within the strange, repetitive nature of human existence.

The project is highly personal, blurring the lines between fiction and reality. Font stars as novelist Uncle Baby Benny, alongside Cat Limket, who plays influencer @catlikesmoney. Both portray fictionalized versions of themselves. The characters cross paths when they accidentally double-book a vacation rental in Monterey, California, each seeking an escape from the endless loops of their lives. What follows is a symbiotic bond that elevates their creative work and offers a genuine path forward.

”All of my work addresses some core issue that I’m grappling with as a human at any given time,” Font says. “It’s my thesis on life and love and friendship and resilience, and the culmination of over 20 years of pursuing this dream. It’s my heart on my sleeve.”

The journey to this milestone has been championed by crucial industry allies. Font first connected with the International Screenwriters’ Association (ISA) at the 2018 Napa Valley Film Festival, where he premiered his feature directorial debut, Madness, Farewell. After inviting him to speak on a panel, the ISA continued to champion his career, providing visibility and a disarming, supportive community that Font remains dedicated to giving back to.

With principal photography having wrapped in February 2026 across Los Angeles, Monterey, and Siena, Italy, the production is moving swiftly through its final stages. A Luxurious Squalor Production, made in co-production with Luca Severi Production Group and Lost Light Films, the project features an ensemble creative team, including co-directors Grace Hannoy, Marc Lammond, and Emanuel Borria, alongside executive producers Luca Severi and Sebastiano Pestoni. The film also stars Brandon Keener, Emanuel Borria, and Mike Bow.

Currently seeking finishing funds with fiscal sponsorship through Film Independent, Again and Again Then The End is gearing up for its upcoming festival run, with distribution plans to follow.

Furthermore, Font hints that this is just the beginning: the film belongs to a larger cinematic universe being crafted by his production banner, Luxurious Squalor Inc. Ultimately, Font hopes the film achieves what he always sets out to do: make viewers feel a little less alone on this planet.
