Filmscape Chicago Is Ready to Roll This Weekend
Filmscape Chicago, the Midwest’s premier education event for film and television production, has announced its full slate of classes for the 2025 show, taking place June 21–22 at CineCity Studios (1414 S Western Ave). This free, two-day event features more than 50 classes designed for all levels and areas of production, as well as an exhibit floor, networking opportunities, and hands-on gear demonstrations.
Now in its seventh year, Filmscape continues to expand its reach and programming. “Filmscape Chicago will offer an eclectic mix of classes for 2025,” says Kelsey McNay, Outreach Coordinator. “Attendees will be immersed in sessions led by industry experts covering all aspects of filmmaking and beyond. There’s truly something for everyone.”
That enthusiasm is shared by both organizers and participants. Joe Lyons, DePaul University instructor and Filmscape board member, notes:
“There’s so much to explore in this year’s schedule. I’m especially excited about the Chicago Style Indie Filmmaking panel and anything with Jay Holben. Plus, there are discussions on virtual production, sound, sustainability, legal topics, distribution—you name it. And the hands-on opportunities with top vendors are unbeatable. I’m really looking forward to the weekend.”
Instructors are equally energized. Andrea Bish, a Chicago-based director and producer returning to teach this year, adds:
“Filmscape audiences are some of the best. Where else can you find such a wide range of skill sets and backgrounds, all eager to learn and share? The questions and conversations I’ve had with attendees stay with me long after the event. Every year, I walk away with new insights, skills, and connections.”
Founded in 2019 as a nonprofit focused on education for the Midwest film and TV community, Filmscape Chicago brings together filmmakers, technicians, students, and artists from across the region for a weekend of free, high-quality programming. In addition to classes, Filmscape hosts a robust exhibit floor showcasing the latest gear from leading manufacturers.
From introductory courses to advanced deep-dives across departments, Filmscape Chicago continues to offer an accessible and inspiring space for creatives of all levels.
