Filmscape Chicago Brings Together the Film and TV Community [SCREEN Photo Booth Exclusive]
The mantra for this year’s Filmscape Chicago was “New Dates, New Venue, Same Mission,” and the conference was a must-attend for anyone in the Midwest production community this past weekend, June 25th and 26th. The festivities were hosted at CineCity Studios Chicago, 2429 West 14th Street, a production facility minutes away from Cinespace Film Studios.
Entering its fourth year, Filmscape Chicago is the Midwest’s largest education-focused film and television tradeshow. This year represented yet another showcase of the best of the best of lighting, camera, audio, and grip manufacturers, along with Chicago-area production resources, for two days of completely free classes, networking, and technology.

HIghlights from Filmscape Chicago included the Windy City debut of the ALEXA 35, the smallest fully featured production camera ever made by ARRI, packing the features and processing power of a larger ALEXA into a Mini-sized body. Another marquee event was “Zeiss Presents, A Conversation With John Lindley, ASC,” Zeiss’ Snehal Patel talks about the art of cinematography with Director of Photography John Lindley, ASC (Justified, Sneakers, Pleasantville, You’ve Got Mail). And throughout the weekend, various organizations hosted coffee hours and networking sessions, including IFA Chicago, Mezcla Media Collective, Chicago Filmmakers, and Women in Camera, to name a few.
