Filmed-In-Chicago Series ‘The Bear’ Will End with Season 5; Filming Wraps Today
It’s a somber day for the Chicago television production community as it has been revealed that the FX-produced series The Bear, which streams on Hulu, is coming to an end with its upcoming fifth season. Sources tell SCREEN the Emmy-winning show wrapped filming today in and around Chicago on this fifth and now-final season.
Season Five is slated to debut later this year; past seasons have all premiered as binge releases in late June.
Jamie Lee Curtis, who won an Emmy for her recurring role as Carmy (played by Golden Globe winner Jeremy Allen White) and Natalie’s (Abby Elliott) mother, said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this week that the show was coming to a close: “It is the end of the show,” she said in response to speculation about a February 17 Instagram post in which she referenced “completing the story” of The Bear. “Everybody knows it’s the end of the show,” declared Curtis. “I’m not breaking any news to anybody. It’s the end of the show — they’ve said it from the beginning.”
FX has not made an official announcement either way, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A Look Back at Season Four…
As we await the final season of this beloved show, let’s take a quick look back. The filmed-in-Chicago sensation’s fourth season premiered last June on Hulu. All four seasons are now streaming on Hulu and you can click right here to enjoy them.
The Season Four cast was once again led by Golden Globe winners Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri, alongside Abby Elliott, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas and Matty Matheson, with Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon returning in their recurring roles as Uncle Jimmy and Claire, respectively.
Season 4 featured a star-studded lineup of guest stars, including returning favorites like the aforementioned Jamie Lee Curtis (Donna), Bob Odenkirk (Uncle Lee), Sarah Paulson (Michelle), John Mulaney (Stevie), and Brie Larson (Francie), alongside newcomers like John Cena (Sammy Fak) and Danielle Deadwyler (Chantel).
Here’s the trailer for Season 4 before you head to Hulu to snarf down the full season…
“The Bear” was created by Christopher Storer, who serves as Executive Producer alongside Josh Senior, Joanna Calo, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson and Hiro Murai. Courtney Storer serves as a Co-Executive Producer and Culinary Producer. Chicago’s Carrie Holt de Lama is a Co-Producer on the series and casting is led by Chicago’s PR Casting, which nabbed the Emmy for Seasons One and Two, alongside fellow casting director Jeanie Bacharach.
And as always, the first four seasons of “The Bear” are now streaming on Hulu.
