Executive Producer Qadree Holmes Shares His Super Bowl Faves and Flops

Which Super Bowl spots did you love? Which did you not love? Let’s hear what the pros had to say! We were thrilled to have Quriosity Productions Executive Producer and Founder Qadree Holmes stop by Screen after the game to present their picks…

SCREEN: What was your favorite spot of the night?

QADREE: Honestly, I was not as impressed this year with the commercials for the Super Bowl.   Lots of the creative seemed disconnected.  It felt like a year of watching things that were meant to be funny but were not funny at all.

So, I chose two spots of the evening. First up Dunkin’ made us laugh. It was a continuation of last year, so it was quite easy to buy into. It gave a us a “fun” peak inside of J. Lo and Ben. It felt real as real can be for a celebrity couple and our family genuinely laughed at this one…

I did also like the live kick for FanDuel.   I wish I had known about it before the game. The spot made the audience want to be in the know on how to be a part of winning.   I felt that this was the most effective in terms of marketing overall.

SCREEN: What was your least favorite spot of the night or a spot you felt could have been more successful?

QADREE: Temu was my least favorite. We saw it so many times that it got annoying to watch. I also heard a sampling of a popular song in it as well. I wondered was that music legal…

SCREEN: What would you like to see more or less of in terms of advertising in next year’s Super Bowl?

QADREE: I’d like to see good creative hit the Super Bowl screen in the future. I was shocked at the mediocre outcomes for 2024.

SCREEN: Any final words here, Qadree?

QADREE: I laughed out loud seeing a black director portrayed in the State Farm spot. I’d be curious to know if a black director was hired to shoot that actual spot. In recent years there have been so many efforts to see diverse directors in the director’s chair. I hope this was not one of those…”oh we just see it in the movies moments” but not in real life.
