Everyone Wins The Battle Of The Ad Bands [Exclusive Photos]
A trio of agency bands got down to some serious rocking at the Battle For Hope, Chicago’s annual Battle of the Advertising Bands fundraiser for Off The Street Club, Thursday night at Joe’s on Weed St. The Circle Backs, Consolidated Feedback and LCA Soundsystem — hailing from Edelman, FCB and Epsilon — went after some of the most challenging tunes a band could play, and they nailed them all.
Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song, Charlie Daniels’ Devil Went Down to Georgia and Icona Pop’s I Love It (I Don’t Care) were among the numbers that fueled the fans into a sonic frenzy. That’s a viking yowler, a bluegrass stomper and a dancefloor anthem — not the kind of thing you play without a lot of practice and a ton of guts. But the bands rose to the occasion, and the crowd went with them.
At the end of the night, a panel of judges crowned LCA Soundsystem as the winners of the event. But it was really a victory for everyone. Besides raising thousands to help send kids to OTSC’s Camp Mathieu, a bunch of people jumped onstage to close out the show by rocking Twisted Sister’s We’re Not Gonna Take It.
