ScreenMag At ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Premiere
ScreenMag’s Sharaun Brown and Brian Schodorf attended the Chicago premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 last Wednesday night at AMC’s Showplace Icon Theatre in the South Loop. The supermodel and documentarian fit right into the theme, which doubled as a red-carpet fashion extravaganza hosted by Chicago’s premiere haute couture event company, The Curio.
“The idea actually came from a Curio team member, Kensli Diggs, who suggested we host a screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2,” said Ian Gerard, who has overseen more than 40 annual screenings across five markets as former CEO of Gen Art. “I quickly reconnected with my former film division director, Jeff Abramson in LA, which led to conversations with Allied Global Marketing and their SVP, a past collaborator.”
With help from Chicago fashionistas, designers and influencers, they expanded the screening “into a full-scale experience, complete with immersive branding and an upscale after-party at Miru at the St. Regis—an intentional nod to the original film,” says Gerard.
Brown, a former America’s Top Model finalist, said that the collaboration made a perfect fit for Chicago’s fashion and film industries. “At its core, The Devil Wears Prada 2 reminds you that no one sustains anything alone. Even in the most competitive environments, community is what grounds you and keeps you human.”
