Daily Planet Productions’ “Room Tone” Wins Twice at the Academy Award-Qualifying Indy Shorts Intl Film Festival

The wins keep coming for a hilarious horror short out of Chicago. Daily Planet Productions is thrilled to announce that their latest short film, “Room Tone,” has clinched two prestigious awards at the Oscar-Qualifying Indy Shorts Film Festival. The film won both the Horror Award and the Audience Choice Horror Award, a testament to its spine-chilling and innovative storytelling.

“Room Tone,” which premiered at Fantastic Fest, has been making waves in the film festival circuit, including selection in five Oscar-Qualifying festivals to date. The film’s unique premise, involving a sound technician’s desperate struggle to capture the perfect “room tone” amidst disruptive coworkers, resonates deeply with both horror enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.

Director Michael Gabriele expressed his excitement, stating, “I feel like everyone has met a version of the ‘sound guy’ on set, and I’m so glad that the film unites us in our shared experiences. This recognition at Indy Shorts, is truly a gratifying validation of our team’s hard work.”

What’s next for the film? The festival journey continues with Hollyshorts in Los Angeles. “Room Tone” will be available to experience at festivals until an online release by the end of the year.

Daily Planet Productions extends heartfelt thanks to all collaborators and vendors who contributed to the film’s success. Special recognition goes to Sonixphere and Bounce Sound for their exceptional support in the film’s sound design and post-production.
