Colle McVoy Exec Creative Director Gil Muiños Gives His Super Bowl Picks and Pans

What were your favorite spots from the advertising extravaganza that is the Super Bowl? How about your least favorite? Let’s see how your answers line up with what Colle McVoy Executive Creative Director Gil Muiños had to say about the great and not-so-great offerings from Sunday night…

SCREEN: What was your favorite spot of the night?

GIL: Nike’s “You Can’t Win. So Win” – powerful, important, well executed, and it got our house hype. I watched it alongside my 10 and 7 year old daughters and they were wide-eyed and inspired. I’m sure there were millions of little girls who felt the same way.

SCREEN: What was your least favorite spot of the night or a spot you felt could have been more successful?

GIL: Totino’s “Chazmo” – It wasn’t my least favorite, but it was the one that I thought could’ve been more. I love Tim Robinson, but I was hoping for more after an interesting beginning to the spot. I guess their knee-jerk analysis of why they weren’t crushed by his death didn’t hit with me.

SCREEN: What would you like to see more or less of in terms of advertising in next year’s Super Bowl?

GIL: I would like to see more story telling. Seems like our industry over-indexed on over the top, slap-sticky humor.

SCREEN: Any final words here, Gil?

GIL: Where was the big, daring spot that has everyone talking? I kinda missed the big DVD menu-esque stunt.
