Chucky Chicken’s Classic Cartoon Matinee

It’s amazing to think just how many options we have for watching stuff with our families these days. It’s hard to believe that at one point in our history, the only way we could see some of our favorite heroes was to go see them in the movie theater!  Well, those days are about to make a return at the first ever Classic Cartoon Matinee (CCM), hosted by Chucky Chicken, October 26 at the Arcada Theater in St. Charles.

A two-hour block featuring some classic cartoons from the 1920’s and 30’s, the CCM plans to bring some beloved animated actors back to the venue. Some are returning for the first time in over a century! Koko the Clown and Felix the Cat will be representing the days of the Silent films, while Betty Boop and Popeye the Sailor will delight audiences with a few of their most beloved appearances.

The presentation will include classic Looney Tunes shorts featuring both Porky Pig and Daffy Duck (of Warner Bros. fame), and thanks to the 95 years of copyright exclusivity finally expiring, both Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Mickey and Minnie Mouse from the Disney studios will make a grand return to the silver screen in their classic films, Steamboat Willie, The Gallopin’ Gaucho, Trolley Troubles, and a spooky film for the Halloween season, The Mad Doctor!

The cartoons will be presented courtesy of your animated hosts, Chucky Chicken and his Featherton Friends, in wraparound segments before and after the show, as well as a quirky intermission performance by Louie Loon and his Amazingly Trained Ants…whatever THAT means! These delightful hosts are brought to life thanks to the talented artists of Valley Studios Media, and are a big part of what makes this presentation so special.

“Parents of my generation grew up with many of these classic cartoons, thanks to public domain releases on VHS and watching them on Saturday morning,” says Chucky Chicken creator and voice Michael Cook. “Getting a chance to present them in the way they were originally seen nearly a hundred years ago AND have Chucky be a part of it is nothing short of an honor.”

The Classic Cartoon Matinee will be taking place (ironically enough) on the morning of Saturday, October 26th at 10 a.m., and is a small part of a larger Kids Fest that will be happening during that day at the Arcada Theater as well, so there will be plenty to do for the whole family!

“We’ve been wanting to do more with kids at the Arcada,” says Arcada Theater owner Ron Onesti. “Having a special offering like this will hopefully allow us to do even more in the future. I wholeheartedly believe in what (Michael) is doing with Chucky; you definitely should come and check it out!”

Tickets are on sale for $10 for general admission at the box office as well as at Chucky Chicken’s Animated Arcada. There are plenty of additional ways to get yourself some free tickets. Look for giveaways starting now through the 25th by tuning in to the Cluckin’ Crew Podcast on the Chucky Chicken Cartoons YouTube Channel.
