Chicago’s Turncoat Pictures Collaborates on VFX for Bong Joon Ho’s ‘Mickey 17,’ Starring Robert Pattinson
Chicago’s own Turncoat Pictures was one of the Visual Effects (VFX) companies behind the upcoming film Mickey 17 from the Academy Award-winning writer/director of Parasite, Bong Joon Ho, starring Robert Pattinson.
“Excited to finally share the trailer for Mickey 17,” declared Turncoat Pictures founder and visual effects supervisor Ryan Urban to SCREEN. “Our lips are sealed until after its release, but add it to your calendar and go support your local movie theater. See it on the big screen!”
Let’s take a look at that Mickey 17 trailer, which has already attracted more than 15,000,000 views on YouTube…
“We had an amazing team on Mickey 17,” Urban shared with SCREEN. “Part of making that team a reality was needing to expand to match the needs of the show. We partnered with Nexodus to utilize their robust and secure platform and talent roster. We built a powerhouse of talent overnight.”
Turncoat Pictures has since officially partnered with Nexodus. Ryan Urban has been promoted to Executive Visual Effects Supervisor, alongside Anthony Kramer (Head of Visual Effects), John Baer (Head of Studio & CEO) and Donald Strubler (Head of Technology).
Nexodus is a full service visual effects and design studio for film, episodic, and commercial productions. You can catch some of Nexodus’ recent work at home or in theaters: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Abigail, Fly Me To The Moon, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and Breathe.
