‘Chicago PD’ Star LaRoyce Hawkins Films His Final Episode

#ChiHards, we’re one step closer to bidding farewell to ‘Chicago PD’ star, and original member of the “WolfPack”, LaRoyce Hawkins. The police drama announced the actor’s departure earlier this summer before the show returned from hiatus to film the upcoming season. Details were vague about when LaRoyce’s character, Detective Kevin Atwater would leave the intelligence unit. But this past weekend, social media acknowledged LaRoyce has wrapped up his final episode.

The #OneChicago family celebrated LaRoyce, who has starred as Officer-turned Detective Kevin Atwater since the show premiered. We got a look at the festivities thanks to his co-star, Marina Squerciati. The actress posted several behind-the-scenes moments from LaRoyce’s sendoff at Chicago hotspot, RPM Italian. While the news may have fans in tears, the soiree resulted in everything but that. In fact, there were lots of smiles all around! The cast celebrated their guy with pasta, margaritas and a fun night out. The grand occasion even brought Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos back to the Windy City. ‘Chicago Fire’ star Miranda Rae Mayo was also there. Marina captioned the post, “Sending off one of the best”. She used hashtags such as #family #wolfpackforever and #whatamanwhatamanwhatamightygoodman. Kool & the Gang’s “Celebration” played as the soundtrack to her carousel that recapped the evening.

It comes as no surprise that Marina had such praise and love for LaRoyce. The two have had a strong friendship since they began their #OneChicago careers. Marina’s character, Kim Burgess, and LaRoyce’s Kevin Atwater started as partners on the police force before making their way up to the intelligence unit. For his own part, LaRoyce has not said much his about departure from ‘PD’. The only thing he’s said in reference to the news was in an Instagram post featuring a photo of him with Marina back on set filming the upcoming season. He wrote “tell the HellCat I’m gonna miss her the most🥺
#BurgWater x BPWRFL.”

Details on Atwater’s final episode have been kept tightly close to the vest. Would we expect anything less? We probably won’t know when LaRoyce’s final episode will be until the trailer drops. But since news of Hawkins’ departure broke, reports suggest his exit will play out over several episodes this season. Given that he’s wrapped so soon (it hasn’t even been full month into filming), #ChiHards may want to prepare to say goodbye a little bit sooner rather than later.

‘Chicago PD’ will premiere on October 7th following the premieres of ‘Chicago Med’ and ‘Chicago Fire’.
