‘Chicago Med’ Co-Exec Producer Nicole Rubio Answers Five Questions with SCREEN
We are thrilled to kick off the new year with a very special guest from America’s favorite night of TV on NBC. Nicole Rubio has directed episodes of Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med, and serves as Co-Executive Producer on Med. Nicole stepped away from set for a moment for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!
SCREEN: Fans are always asking about the crossovers so we thought we’d ask… if your show could crossover with any TV show OUTSIDE of the OneChicago universe, what would it be?
NICOLE: I want to do a crossover with NCIS Hawaii. In Hawaii, for obvious reasons.
SCREEN: If you could be a contestant on any game show in TV history, what would it be?
NICOLE: American Ninja Warrior. I just love competition and overcoming challenging obstacles. I’m athletic at heart, so it would be really cool to see how far I could go. I’d be staggering over the finish line but I’d get there.
Ok Nicole, here are some highlights from the show for you and our SCREEN readers, enjoy!
SCREEN: What is your favorite episode of Chicago Med, Chicago PD or Chicago Fire ever?
NICOLE: You’re asking me to pick my favorite child. I can’t possibly choose one!
SCREEN: Ok, Nicole, fair enough! How about the hardest you’ve ever laughed on set?
NICOLE: We play a little game on set when the camera is set down between takes, and you can see everyone’s legs on the monitors. Trying to guess “whose legs are those” has gotten some big laughs.
SCREEN: Your go-to karaoke song?
NICOLE: Love Shack. Everyone loves Love Shack! It’s easy, even 5 drinks in!
BONUS QUESTIONS!
SCREEN: Best advice you’ve ever been given?
NICOLE: My dad told me to always do the job right the first time, so you don’t have to go back and do it again. It applies to so many things, sometimes I even think about it when I’m doing housework.
SCREEN: Worst job ever?
NICOLE: Handing out flyers for a department store, on Melrose Ave. The pay was good, but being in the hot sun handing out flyers, I spent the whole time hoping I didn’t run into somebody I knew.
SCREEN: Your most prized possession?
NICOLE: My wedding and engagement rings for what they represent.
SCREEN: Your favorite “reality TV” show? Why do you love it so much?
NICOLE: Dr. Pimple Popper! You wouldn’t think that watching someone pop pimples would be so intriguing. And Ridiculousness – I just like to watch people do outrageous things, and I laugh my ass off.
Ok Nicole, we will close out the article with some hearty laughs from the popular MTV show Ridiculousness…
